Scarlot Harlot attends San Francisco’s Take Back the Night (December 1990), a march in remembrance of the fourteen female college students murdered in the previous year’s Montreal Massacre. Clashes and controversy emerge between sex-workers and anti-porn feminists about sex, violence and men- with an emphasis on the perspectives of strippers and sexual rights activists…an excellent feminist discussion piece. In this 4 minute excerpt friends of Scarlot discuss their expectations about the march and feelings about sex work. Features Lily Burana, author of “Strip City.” Screened at W.O.W. Cafe (N.Y., N.Y.) VIDEO WITNESSES FESTIVAL OF NEW JOURNALISM (HALLWALLS, Buffalo, N.Y.), LOS ANGELES LESBIAN AND GAY FILM FESTIVAL (4 minute excerpt from 28 minute video- 1991)
We’re back on the grind for cataloging zines after a wonderful time at LA Art Book Fair, where someone donated a handful of Vaginal Davis zines, which were a perfect delight to read. Speaking of don’t miss LA Zine Fest coming this weekend. I guarantee you there will be some scrumptious queers making delicious art. So don’t be disappointed that you missed it and GO.

Love your local sex librarian,
More CSC bangerz! We are not responsible if you hurt yourself dancing too sexy to this tune, but if you have an incredible orgasm, we would like you to cite us as part of the inspiration.
You are the drum in my heart beat
Bass and guitar lead
Stuck on the notes you play
My heart that you play on
Red like a crayon
I can’t walk away
Here’s my book of the day!
Bang It Out; sidewalk smut for lovers, lushes, and other passersby is a phenomenal book of really short erotica written in 8-15 minutes by Cameryn Moore while sitting on the sidewalk in various cities with her typewriter. Some people will write you a poem on the spot for a dollar or loose change, Moore writes you steamy smut for those who were inclined to participate. Her handwritten sign read, “abrupt ertoica, smut while U wait.”
Come by CSC and get your erotica on today! We got some good new books.
And check out Cameryn Moore at

So there are many things that make a sex librarian’s job great. There are countless little things, besides reading Nina Hartley’s fan mail, meeting many a sex positive people, finding Howie Gordon’s (Listen to a new radio interview with him here @Progressive Radio Network) new book signed on my desk and ready for me to read. ALL THE SEX BOOKS—ALL THE TIME.
There is definitely one thing that I love a lot, and that is finding Carol Queen everywhere. It’s like Where’s Waldo to a certain degree. So let me share with you this recent find, as I was cataloging a lot of duplicates of kinky queer magazines (TO BE SOLD SOON__KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN FOR THAT), I was flipping through BLACK SHEETS, and sure enough, there was Carol with some fabulous writing about being a sex slave to her Mistress cat Bracelet.
Also, The CSC LIBRARY is open today! Come by and say hello!
Love, Miss Ian
What a nice surprise this morning to walk in and find Howie Gordon’s new book, HINDSIGHT, True Love & Mischief In The Golden Age of Porn, on my desk.
Here is a picture of the cover,an inscription on the inside jacket of the cover he left for us, a picture I took from inside the book with Howie and Nina Hartley, and the Playgirl centerfold we made him sign for us.
Thanks Howie for hanging out with us at CSC. You’re beautiful. Congratulations on the new book. Just in time for everyone to buy it for their loved ones at Christmas.
And fuckin Whoopi Goldberg wrote the foreward. How’s you do it Howie?
Lovely stakeholder people!
